John Michael Dunne-Brady, 68, passed way in his home in Silver City on March 26, 2014.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 2 from 4 – 6 pm at Bright Funeral Chapel with the rosary to begin there at 6 pm with Deacon Bill Holguin officiating. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 3, at 10am at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church with Father Rod Nichols officiating.

John was born March 16, 1946 in Pensacola Florida to Francis and Mary (Dougherty) Brady. John had lived in the Silver City area since 1990. John graduated from Andover Prep School, attended Lehigh University and graduated from Western New Mexico University with majors in botany and mathematics. John had also studied herbology and was an authority on the naming of plants. He also was an artist who specialized in landscapes done in watercolor and in botanical drawings. Many of his drawings have been featured in a book published by Jack Carter about plants of the Southwest. Many of his paintings are currently exhibited in the New Church of The Southwest Desert in Silver City. John also was a writer and during his lifetime published four books. He also was an authority on the I Ch'ing, and taught classes on this. He created a "circular number system" based on the hexagrams of the I Ch'ing, and also drew several mandalas to illustrate these concepts. John also created hiking trails, some of which can be walked on in the Little Walnut area. He also did research and wrote on topics pertaining to Christianity and scripture. John was a unique "Renaissance Man" with an avid mental curiosity and loved life. He loved his dogs and his dogs loved him. He was always devoted to his wife and was true husband and friend to her. John was an extremely generous, kind person with a wonderful sense of humor, through his kindness and loving heart he changed many lives, and he will be greatly missed.

John is preceded in death by his father Francis Brady. John is survived by his wife Jane, his mother Mary Dougherty Brady, 2 sisters Mimi Marquet and Mary Ann Brady and 1 brother Jim Brady and his wife Ellen, three nephews and one niece.
