Lupe Viramontes, 91, former Deming resident presently living in El Paso, Texas passed away peacefully Friday March 28, 2014 at Trisun Care Center.

Visitation will begin Thursday April 3, 2014 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapel and the rosary service will be there at 7 o'clock led by Suzanne Lundy. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning April 4, 2014 at 11 o'clock at St. Ann's Catholic Church. The rite of committal and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Father Enrique Lopez-Escalera, Pastor, will officiate.

Lupe was born February 28, 1923 to Carlota Guerra and George Frietze in Canutillo, Texas. She attended school in the lower Mesilla Valley and married Antonio (Tony) Viramontes in 1941. Shortly thereafter, Tony went to War and became a double amputee while serving his country. He returned home and together they raised their family being successful farmers. For many years they lived in Luna County. After Tony's tragic death in 1973 she moved to El Paso where she made her home and attended Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She is survived by 2 sons, Carlos Viramontes and wife Nina of Las Cruces and Judge Daniel Viramontes of Deming; 2 daughters, Mari Torres of El Paso and Lisa Tucker and husband Matthew of Indiana; brother, Luis Frietze of Las Cruces; sister, Lina Mora of El Paso; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Lupe and her family became very fond and appreciative of Amy Selph, her hospice nurse and caregiver.

She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Antonio 'Tony' Viramontes; son, Tony Viramontes Jr.; 2 grandchildren, George & Albino; Siblings, Tony Frietze, Mary Brazille & Corina Duarte.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricardo, Jose, David and Joe Viramontes, Tony Torres and Matthew Tucker.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Baca's or one's favorite charity.
