Virginia L. Hoffman, 84, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Saturday, June 14, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born May 22, 1930 in Salem, Missouri to Bernice Leo and Etha Black Mitchell. She grew up on the family farm, the oldest of four children. After graduating from high school she began working as a waitress. Her aunt Judy set her up on a blind date, where she met the love of her life, Floyd Hoffman. They were married January 21, 1950. They moved to Morenci, AZ where Floyd began his career with Phelps Dodge. They were blessed with two children, Floyd Edward and Barbara. After 21 years in Morenci, they moved to Douglas, Phoenix and then to Silver City in 1987. Virginia was involved in many community organizations including Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Campfire Girls. Her joy in life was her family. You could always find her cheering on her grandchildren whether at a dance recital, gymnastics or sporting event.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Floyd Hoffman of the family home; one son, Eddie Hoffman and wife Sid of Tucson, AZ; one daughter, Barbara Wood of Silver City; four grandchildren, Robbie and wife Michelle Hoffman, Brad and wife Erin Wood, Krista Wood, Deidre and husband Josh Wilmeth; eight great-grandchildren, Kameron, Ryan, Cassidy, Emily, Logan, Maci, Kaylee and Kambrie; three brothers, R.E. Mitchell of CA; David Mitchell of Missouri; Jim Mitchell of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life Service will be celebrated Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10 am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with family and friends officiating. Inurnment will be at 2pm at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to National PKU Alliance PO Box 501 Tomahawk, WI 54487 or call 715-437-0477. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
