Soila R. Jaynes of Silver City was born May 14, 1957. The family home is in Lyford, Texas. She died July 9, 2014, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces from complications of scleroderma.

She moved to Silver City with her husband, Joseph Thomas Jaynes, and son, Steven Kyle Jaynes, in January 2002 to attend Western New Mexico University. She completed her bachelor's degree in 2005 in rehabilitation services and went on to obtain a master's degree in special education. She worked at Western New Mexico University as a secretary until she had to retire in April 2013 because of her disease.
