Shirley A. Romero, 77, of Lordsburg, passed away in El Paso, Texas, on Tuesday, July 15, 2014.

A Graveside Service was held today, Friday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Lordsburg. Visitation was held Friday, July 18, 2014 at Lordsburg Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m.

She fought a long, hard battle with a disease that took away a great deal of her earthly body but not her mind or her loving spirit, and her sense of never feeling sorry for herself and working as hard as she could to overcome unbeatable odds. She will be remembered for all the kind things she did for others, the jobs she worked, and always being available for the kids who came in and out of her house with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all the people who were touched by her life; the staff at the hospitals who fell in love with her and the many friends she made through the years, and also the family and extended family she has left behind and all the people she met with a smile and kind word of passing.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, David Romero; a son, Robert J. (Starla) Ketchum; two daughters, Carol Gaussoin (Clarence) and Debra Ketchum; a sister, Patsy Lopez {Richard); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her wonderful sisters-in-law and
their families; as well as many friends.

Pallbearers are Robert Ketchum, Bobby Ketchum, Ty Willis, Arthur Alba, Joseph Valdez and Daniel Garcia. Honorary pallbearers are Joseph Valdez, Mike Byington, Ray Fowler, Bill
Fowler, Little Joe Patton, Arthur Alba, and all her grandsons and nephews.
