Michael Louis Martin, 76, resident of Deming passed away Saturday December 29, 2012 at his home.

As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be Saturday January 12, 2013 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Son-Shine Baptist Church. Pastor Mark Boggs will officiate and honors will be provide by the United States Navy Honor Guard.

Michael was born August 18, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland to James and Elona (Selig) Martin. He served his country for 27 years in the United States Navy, and on December 1, 1980 Commander Michael L. Martin retired. Afterward Michael worked for Tidewater Consultants Inc. in Virginia Beach, VA for 16 years where he was the Executive Vice President. He then came to Deming in 1997 and locally was a member of Son-Shine Baptist Church and also kept himself active with local municipal activities.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anna Martin of Deming; sons, Jean and Richard; sister, Frances Balm of Deming; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
