Rocky Lara, candidate for New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional district, will report raising $163,014 in the fourth quarter of 2013. Since entering the race in September, Lara has raised more than $264,000. She will report having more than $227,000 cash on hand.

In the fourth quarter of 2013, 95% of Lara’s contributions were $250 or less. Nearly 70% of total contributions came from residents of New Mexico.

“The outpouring of support for my campaign from every corner of the district is a clear sign that Southern New Mexico is tired of Congressman Pearce’s lack of leadership and divisive rhetoric in Washington,” Lara said. “Whether it’s his votes to shutdown the government or his belief that women must ‘voluntarily submit’ to their husbands, Congressman Pearce has shown time and time again that his priorities are out-of-touch with the residents of Southern New Mexico. We deserve a representative who will stand and fight for a better future for all New Mexicans.”

Rocky Lara is an attorney in Carlsbad and is the former Chair of the Eddy County Commission. In September, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee named Lara as one of their Jumpstart candidates. She has received endorsements from Sen. Martin Heinrich and Rep. Ben Ray Lujan.
