Trent Petty is seeking re-election for Silver Consolidated School Board, District 3 and will be on the ballot for School Board election, Tuesday, February 3.

In the past 4 years, we have accomplished a great deal in the Silver Consolidated School District. We have created a standalone Tech. department that has brought our district into compliance with the state of NM for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers tests and have brought our schools into the 21st century by putting computers in the classroom. In the past 4 years, we have stepped forward into the Vo Tech arena and are working closely with WNMU on this new and exciting avenue for our children's futures.

Trent is a 30-year resident of Grant County. He and his wife of 34 years, Diane, have raised their five children here, and they have all graduated from Silver High School. Their youngest son graduated this past May and is now at New Mexico Military Institute. He and his wife presently have grandchildren in the Silver Schools

Trent graduated from Tucumcari High School then went on to spend 6 years in the United States Air Force and spent most of it in Albuquerque. After getting out of the Air Force, he joined the Federal Aviation Administration and was an Airways Facilities Systems Specialist for 30 years, until his retirement in Jan. 2010.

Trent has been the President of the Silver Consolidated School Board for the past 3 years and has received several leadership awards and is nearing completion of his Master Boardsman certification with the New Mexico School Board Association. He sat on the board of the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce for 3 years, on the board of CATS TV in Silver City for 3 years, is a Leadership New Mexico Alumnus and is currently with the New Mexico Mounted Patrol and a past board member of that organization.

Trent said,"The Silver Consolidated School District is now ranked 11th out of 89 districts in New Mexico, according to an independent outside study. www.schooldiggers.com. I am very excited about what we have achieved in the past 4 yrs. for our children and where we are headed in our district. I am committed to giving our children the best education possible."

Trent said, "We should never say, that is good enough, when we are talking about our children's education and future".
