Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Daniel Aldas Galindo. I retired after 26 years as an environmental scientist with the New Mexico Environment Department's Air Quality Bureau. Being born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, attending New Mexico State University in Las Cruces and raising my family in Silver City has instilled a great appreciation for New Mexico and our way of life. I have also worked as a site director for a project called the Young Fathers Project through Grant County's First Born Program and was a mentor for Headstart's Father Power program. These programs worked to encourage fatherhood involvement and the importance of family values.

After graduation with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and a Bachelor of Science in Geology, my wife Vicki and I relocated to Silver City after being hired by the State of New Mexico and made Silver City our home for 29 years. I am the oldest of 12 and grew up with a strong sense of responsibility. I was brought up Catholic am a member of St. Francis Newman Center and still believe in God. I have been a Republican since 1979 and believe it is the party of the emancipation proclamation and the same party that helped propel the early civil rights movement when Dwight Eisenhower signed the Civil Rights Act of 1960.

With the recent announcement from our current District 38 Representative, Ms. Diane Hamilton, I decided to seek the nomination for the office. District 38 is a wonderful place, spearheaded by small business owners, farmers, ranchers and people who work hard making this a great place to live. By encouraging other people to join the Republican Party we can continue the efforts of many people who were Republicans and have done great things for our country.

I have been married to Vicki who graduated with a BS in Business Administration from WNMU. She is a community advocate for The Arc of New Mexico, promoting and protecting the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Galindos have three adult children, Anthony, Greg, and Jaimie who has Down's syndrome and one grandson, Gavin. As their sons were growing up I volunteered many years in local Little League, soccer, basketball, as a certified coach for Special Olympics and wrestling activities. Because of their daughter, Jaimie, the Galindos' lives have been enriched and have met and helped many families statewide who have family members with disabilities.

I am running a campaign without any PAC money and haven't asked anyone for money. Our daughter's caregiver, an aunt, my mother-in-law, my neighbor and my wife have donated about $550 towards my campaign, and I do wish to thank them. I am a good listener and good mediator and work very well with a variety of personalities. I plan to use these traits to the benefit of District 38 and will work with both Democrats and Republicans.
