Colón: “I am running for State Auditor because like so many New Mexicans I am fed up and not willing to sit on the sidelines.”

Albuquerque, NM – This afternoon, Brian Colón announced he is running for New Mexico State Auditor to hold government agencies and officials accountable, fight for educators and students, and improve public safety in New Mexico’s diverse communities. Brian earned his undergraduate degree in Finance at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces and then graduated from the University of New Mexico’s School of Law. Brian went to elementary school in Albuquerque, grew up in rural Valencia County, lived in Las Cruces for ten years where he met his wife and his son was born. Currently, Brian lives and works in Albuquerque. Brian’s wife, Aleli, has been a public school teacher for 17 years in New Mexico and their son, Rafael, attended public school in New Mexico and is now on a Presidential Scholarship attending George Washington University.

“I am running for State Auditor because like so many New Mexicans I am fed up and not willing to sit on the sidelines,” said Brian Colón. “I am focused on ensuring New Mexico’s tax dollars are going to the right places – to hire more police officers, properly fund our courts, pay better wages to our teachers and educational assistants, and empower New Mexico students to succeed. My finance background and legal expertise make me the right person for the job, and that job is to hold the powerful accountable and make New Mexico a safer and more prosperous place by fighting waste, fraud and abuse every day.”
