On Tuesday, Representative Rodolpho "Rudy" Martinez (D-Dona Ana, Grant, Sierra) announced that he will be seeking re-election in District 39 for the 2018 Election. Martinez completed all of the necessary paperwork and submitted over 200 petition signatures to the Secretary of State today in Santa Fe.Martinez says that the ability to represent District 39, which encompasses various parts of Southern New Mexico including Silver City, Hatch, Las Cruces, Radium Springs and Hillsboro, has been an extreme privilege. "I have been a public servant for most of my life, but the opportunity to represent such a diverse district has been an amazing experience, and one that I would be honored to continue" says Rep. Martinez, who began his term as a Representative in 2007 Martinez went on to say that the best days for New Mexico are ahead of us: "The investments that we are beginning to make in our S

tate can have real impacts moving forward. We have been able to make key investments into infrastructure, jobs, and education. I'm incredibly proud of the work we did last session to give teachers pay raises, and we need to carry that momentum in those initiatives with a new Governor moving forward."

Rep. Martinez previously served as a Grant County Commission, Chairman and Mayor of Bayard. He is a current member of the House Appropriations & Finance Committee and serves as Vice Chair of the House State Government, Indian & Veterans Affairs Committee.
