Ray Tavizon has served in law enforcement in New Mexico for 33 years, to include proudly serving the citizens of Grant County for 22 of those years. He has enjoyed a diverse career in law enforcement, serving as: Dispatcher, Jailer, Police Officer, Deputy Sheriff, Police Instructor, K-9 Handler, Narcotics
Agent, Criminal Investigator, Detective Sergeant, Detective Lieutenant and Assistant Police Chief.

Ray has an extensive background in police supervision and administration. As Assistant Police Chief, his duties included: serving in budget management, as training organizer and coordinator and trainer, in scheduling, equipment and fleet management, policy review and writing, grant writing, as grant coordinator, and in general departmental operations.

Ray currently holds the position of Detective Sergeant for the Grant County Sheriff's Office. He has over 1500 hours of advanced police officer training and is a certified instructor in various disciplines through the New Mexico Department of Public Safety Law Enforcement Academy.

Ray has the citizens of Grant County's best interest in mind and if elected Sheriff will strive to protect their interests by ensuring liability protection for the Grant County Sheriff's Office. He understands the areas of liability that need protection when running a law enforcement agency, these areas include: Police Development, Training, Performance Management and Early Warning Detection. He adamantly believes in protecting the constitutional rights of each citizen fairly and impartially.
