An upper level trough approaching the Four Corners area this afternoon will bring stronger southwest winds aloft across Central and Northwestern New Mexico this afternoon, including northern portions of the Gila Region over Catron County.

The upper level winds will mix down to the surface this afternoon, resulting in 20 foot winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts of 30 to 35 mph.  The strong winds, combined with humidity in the single digits to lower teens, will cause critical fire weather conditions across the Gila Region in Catron County this afternoon.
