Relay for Life 2013 took place Friday, June 28, overnight into Saturday, June 29. The annual event supports cancer research, celebrates cancer survivors and memorialzes those who have died from cancer.
In spite of smoke from the Silver Fire, a large contingent on Friday evening, took a lap around the Silver High School track. Entertained by musicians and disk jockeys and lighting lumnarias in honor of those who have died were among the events taking place overnight.
According to organizer Archi Padilla, this year has the most teams participating in the history of the event in Silver City.
