American Legion Allingham-Golding Post 18 members presented a certificate and announced winners of a raffle drawing at the end of their meeting Saturday morning.

Gil Choquette, American Legion member, presented a certificate of completion of an American Legion Extension Institute Course to John Sterle.

A drawing was held to choose the winners of a raffle, proceeds of which go to the New Mexico Operation Wounded Warrior chapter. Each year the Rockin' Diamond Ranch of Mule Creek donates a steer and takes care of the butchering and packaging of four quarters of beef. The American Legion Riders, Post 13, sponsor the raffle

The winning tickets were drawn by American Legion Honor Guard Commander Adan Rivera. The winners chosen were Albert Herrera, Martin A. Muñoz, Rehokah Russell, and Art. M. Alcott.

A group of the American Legion Riders from New Mexico will travel to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, from Sept 24-29. The riders will take cash, clothing, toiletries, books, DVDs, gift cards and lap blankets to the Family Support Center.

A host chapter in Converse, Texas, a San Antonio suburb, will escort the riders into the city and onto the base and feed them at their American Legion Club. Last year, New Mexico Riders took more than $40,000 worth of money and goods to the Family Support Center.

Locally, Chapter 13 gives lap blankets and other gifts at Christmas to veteran residents at Fort Bayard Medical Center, Millie's and Silver City Care Center.
