Because of the U.S. government shutdown, the Gila National Forest offices and public campgrounds are closed due to the furlough. Also, as part of the National Park Service, the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument Visitor Center and campgrounds are also closed. Only a very small staff will be on hand for emergencies and to provide security for the cliff dwellings.

A check of the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument website had this message on it:Because of the federal government shutdown, all national parks are closed and National Park Service webpages are not operating. For more information, go to www.doi.gov.

The Gila National Forest website directs you to the USDA website, which has this message: Due to the lapse in federal government funding, this website is not available.

After funding has been restored, please allow some time for this website to become available again.
