At the annual dinner offered annually on the Sunday preceding Thanksgiving, crowds lined up for the feast, themed "A Time for Sharing," by hosts Jim and Debbie Nennich, owners of W&N Enterprises, which includes The Food Basket stores in Silver City and Bayard, the Snappy Marts, The Wrangler Bar and Grill and the Silver City Beverage Company.
Debbie Nennich said 24 turkeys and 20 hams had been prepared, along with at least 720 pounds of potatoes, 60 quarts of dressing, seven full sheet cakes and assorted cream pies and cookies. Salad and rolls, white and whole wheat, were also on the menu.
"We started cooking yesterday (Saturday) morning," Debbie Nennich said. "We have 50 volunteers, including serive sororities, the Gaffney-Oglesby Marine Corps League Detachment 1328, Boy Scouts, and many community volunteers.
"We love having Jericho provide the music for us every year," Debbie said. "This year, Jericho was the first group to volunteer for us."
The Nennichs have produced the dinner for the community each year for 10 years to "give back to the community for the support everyone has given us." The Knights of Columbus Hall houses the event each year.
