The fourth Tuesday Silver City Town Council meeting was rescheduled from Dec. 24 to Monday, Dec. 16, and was the shortest Town Council meeting in this reporter's experience.

The Public Input portion of the meeting, during which Dr. Art Martinez proposed an across-the-board increase in minimum wage from $7.50 per hour to $14.00 per hour, was also short.

During the Reports portion of the meeting, Ann Mackie, Silver City Town Clerk, reminded the public that Candidate Packets are now ready for anyone declaring as candidate for the March 4, 2014 election. The elected positions available are:
•    Mayor:  2-yr. term
•    Councilor District 2:  2-yr. term
•    Councilor District 4:  2-yr. term
•    Municipal Judge:  4-yr. term
Declaration of Candidacy is Tuesday, January 7, 2014, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm only, in the office of the Municipal Clerk, City Hall, 101 W. Broadway. In addition, precinct workers are needed to work at the election polling sites.

Mackie also reminded the public that Mayor James Marshall is looking for qualified volunteers to serve on the following committees and boards:
•    Extra Territorial Subdivision Commission
•    Planning and Zoning Commission
•    Incentive Review Committee
•    Cemetery Board
•    Library Board
•    Museum Board

Applications are available at City Hall, 101 W. Broadway and on the Town's website. (http://townofsilvercity.org/r/board_vacancies.php)
Lastly, the Council approved a Special Dispenser Permit Application for the Buffalo Bar LLC for the Hip Hop and R and B Concert to be held at the Grant County Business and Conference Center on Jan. 18, 2014.

The "sweet" aspect of the meeting came as the Mayor wished everyone a happy holiday season. The meeting was then adjourned.
