Tony Trujillo, of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, has been elected chair of the New Mexico Prosperity Project (NMP2) for 2014, replacing T. Greg Merrion of Merrion Oil & Gas, who held the post the past four years. He is shown at right.

    Robin Otten of RDO Strategic Consultants, LLC, was re-elected secretary-treasurer.

In addition, the new executive director of New Mexico Prosperity Project is Lauren Yates, who is principal of Communiko, LLC, a public affairs company, and a director of HEYCO Energy Group. Yates is shown at left.

    Ms. Yates takes over from Carroll Cagle, who was executive director of the non-profit 501 (c) 6 organization for the past four years.  Cagle is retiring but will provide some research and writing for NMP2.

    Tony Trujillo is the director of government relations for Freeport-McMoRan, which has major copper mining operations in southwestern New Mexico.

    Ms. Yates also has 14 years’ of public affairs experience, including four years on the national staff of BIPAC, in Washington, D.C. BIPAC has strategic partnering relationships with all state-level prosperity projects around the country  --  now at 48 and soon to be all 50 states.

    New Mexico Prosperity Project is a Web-based voter information project oriented toward providing public policy information and practical tools to those in the private sector – both executives and employees.  It does this via its website (www.newmexicoprosperity.org) and via e-newsletters. In addition, NMP2 hosts or co-hosts national-level presenters on key topics each year.
