The Bayard City Council, at its regular meeting on Jan. 27, heard an update on Copper Little League, and approved the audit report.

During public input, Hector Carrillo, Copper Little League president, gave an update on last year's events. He said registration for the 2014 season would be conducted by online registration.  Those wishing to register could complete the registration at the Bayard Public Library, during normal business hours.


The council accepted the State Auditor-approved 2013 audit report, as presented to them by Dominic Fierro of Fierro & Fierro.

Also approved were the appointments of 2014 precinct board members for the upcoming municipal election. They are Betty Conway/Judge, Margaret Alvarado Clerk/Judge, Armando Amador Clerk/Judge, Orpha Gonzalez Clerk/Judge and Mary “Becky” Shumway Alternate Clerk/Judge

Councilors approved the withdrawal of candidacy of Armando Arzola from the mayoral race.

A.C. Rodriguez was appointed to the Housing Authority Board.

The council approved the Dec. 31, 2013 quarterly report.
 
Councilors awarded the 2014 Water System Improvement Project to Engineers Inc. and approved allowing the clerk to negotiate the contract and to authorize Engineers Inc. to proceed with work.    The project is to construct water line improvements and install an automated water meter reading system throughout town.
 
In a closed executive session, no action was taken.
