Regional Science Olympiad Silver High School winners

Silver High School will be competing at the State Science Olympiad competition February 22 in Socorro, NM at NMTech after a 2nd place finish at WNMU on January 25.

Wayne Sherwood, one of the coaches said: "This year’s competition at regionals was very tough with 10 high schools competing and a total of 15 teams (some schools have more than one team). Silver High School was able to have 2 teams with 15 students on each team and 2 alternates. Socorro was the only school that outscored Silver and we edged Las Cruces by 4 points. Every event matters in Science Olympiad and there are 23 events this year and our kids did a great job in every event. I am very proud of our kids for their academic performance and great behavior this past weekend. I believe our public schools are doing an outstanding job educating kids through competitive academic competitions like Science Olympiad and Science Fair. I also want to thank the parents and community for their support by helping the students prepare for the competition and also for the generous donations from businesses.
