Photo: Silver High School Science Olympiad Team

This past weekend, in Socorro NM, 25 teams from around the state competed in the annual Science Olympiad. Silver High School earned a spot to compete by finishing second at their regional event at WNMU in January. The team consisted of 15 students who battled it out in 23 events to have the bragging rights to be known as the brightest students in the state.

Silver came away with 15 top ten finishes earning 30 medals and placed 8th as a team.

Bungee Drop-6th place Chris Billings and Lindsey Ashinhurst

Compound Machines-7th place Andrew Scott and Catherine Lucero

Disease Detectives- 9th place Emily Streams and Danni Gough

Entomology-7th place Emily Streams and Danni Gough

Forensics-9th place Mike Chu and Sirus Mrazik

Geologic Mapping 8th place Gabe Partido and Josh Saari

MagLev 7th place Gabe Partido and Chris Billings

Mission Possible-9th place Andrew Scott and Lindsey Ashinhurst

Scrambler-4th place Emily Stone and Alyssa Shanley Lente
