On March 30,2014 at about 8:12 a.m., Grant County Sheriff's deputies responded to the area of 61 Whiskey Creek Road, in reference to larceny of tires and rims. While en route, dispatch advised the deputies that the person reporting the incident was following the suspect vehicle, which was a red Honda.

The deputies were able to locate the vehicle on Loma Verde Road and Acorn Drive and made a traffic stop. They had contact with the driver, who was Juan Valdez, 38-years-old of Hanover, N.M. The tires and rims were not in the vehicle, but Valdez stated he would show the deputies where he had hidden them. Valdez showed them where they were, and the deputies took them into evidence.

Valdez was placed under arrest and charged with Count 1: Larceny (3rd degree felony); Count 2: Larceny (3rd degree felony; County 3: Burglary (3rd degree felony); and Count 4: Possession of Burglary tools (4th degree felony). He was taken to the Grant County Detention Center and booked under a $35,000 bond.
