Situation: Crews have been able to stop the forward spread of the fire, preventing it cresting a ridge that would have let it threaten additional homes. An air tanker from Alamogordo made one retardant drop, which helped give crews on the ground time to get ahead of the fire and secure fire lines. Crews will continue to mop up the burn area and work to hold containment lines. Crews will be on the fire throughout the evening looking for hot spots. So far, no containment percentage has been reported tonight. It may be tomorrow before one is given, to make sure containment lines hold through the night.
