On a drizzly Saturday morning, a crew of Western New Mexico University football players helped clean up dead grass near the historic homes at Fort Bayard National Historic Landmark. Included in the group, under coaches Robert Rodriguez and Slover, players were Zachary Andrews-Worline, Willie Bobbitt, Oscar Ceniceros, Avery Crump, Joshua Mcintire, Anthony Phillips, Marcus Smith, Larry Young, Kyle Buedreux, Dylan Contreras, Greg Elliott, Cody Hawkins, Jacob Dexter, Adam Perez, Mana Semo and David Vasquez.
The Fort Bayard Historic Preservation Society fed the group hot dogs, chips, drinks and cookies after their morning of weed-eating, raking and bagging the grass. The Fort Bayard Restoration and Development Coalition gave a donation to the team.
