Road Closures: Highway 15 from Ben Lilly Monument to the gravel pit near Wildhorse Mesa.
Area Closures: Public access within the vicinity of the fire area is discouraged. Official closures are being finalized.

Summary: The Signal Fire, located approximately 11 miles north of Silver City has grown to 2500 acres. The fire is currently 0% contained. Multiple runs and torching were observed with the fire spotting up to ¼ mile. The fire is burning in timber with a grass understory. A total of 284 personnel are currently assigned to the incident with multiple handcrews, engines, air resources, and overhead on order. A Type II Incident Management team will be briefed and given an overview of the fire at 2:00 p.m. today.

Forest users are reminded the Gila National Forest is currently in Stage I Fire Restrictions. Fires are currently allowed in developed campgrounds, in Forest Service provided metal rings, and smoking within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material. Know Before You Go, before hiking or camping, check for fire restrictions and closures in the area.
