On May 9, 2014, at about 7:50 am, Grant County Seriff Deputies were dispatched to 21 Peterson Drive in reference to two male subjects trying to break inside the home, and one of them had a handgun. Upon their arrival, they spoke to the homeowner who stated that they saw an African American wearing a red shirt and the other subject wearing a black shirt trying to get in the door. When the garage door opened, the subjects started walking toward the rodea arena.

A Deputy made contact with both subjects, and they took off running from him.  The Deputy was able to catch one of the subjects, who was identified as Adam Landon, 22 years old of Silver City, NM, who was arrested on an APO hold no bond; 2 counts possession of a controlled substance, 4th degree felony; possession of drug paraphernalia; and evading a police officer.

Deputies later found out while doing their investigation that there was a third subject involved, a female who was arrested. She was identified as Cassandra Brazeal, 24 years old of Silver City, NM, and was charged with evading/eluding a police officer. She also had a warrant from Judge Laney for possession of a controlled substance and 2 counts of larceny, bond $6,000, and another warrant from Judge Robinson for failure to comply with conditions of probation, no bond.

A Detective with the Grant County Sheriff's Office later apprehended the other male subject who was identified as Otis Armstead, 28 years old of Silver City, NM.
