The Silco Theater Open House hosted by Silver City MainStreet Project brought the public downtown to see the theater in its former size, with a sloping floor down toward the stage. The wide open space results from the demolition and removal of all the non-historic additions that had been made over the years.

Phase 1 of the renovation, likely to begin July 1, with a scheduled completion date of Sept. 30, will be set up for movies, with all the necessary equipmenthase 2 will renovate backstage for live theater. "Lucy Whitmarsh, Silver City MainStreet Project Board president, said the plans are to add nothing that might have to be removed for Phase 2.

"MainStreet has done it properly and patiently," David Vesica, project architect said. "They are doing it right."
