The 8th Annual Southwest New Mexico Car Show, with more than 70 entrants, took over a long block of Bullard Street on Saturday.
Norman Castrillo, the president of the Silver City Chapter of the Estilo Car Club, said represented at the show were hot rods, muscle cars, low riders, vehicles under construction and originals. "I grew up with car shows," he said. "I've carried on the tradition to now. We have vehicles from El Paso, Tucson, Las Cruces, Deming, and, of course, Silver City and Grant County."à^
He said there are five chapters of the Estilo Car Club.
Castrillo said the trophy that the Best of Show would take home, in addition to $300, was a 1967 Conner Jewelry Store display trophy. When the store closed and everything in the store was sold, Rocky Mondello of Morningstar bought the trophy and donated it to the show.
