It seems, although the earthquake was felt from El Paso, Texas, to Albuquerque, NM, and Phoenix, Ariz., it was centered around Duncan, Ariz. 

Earthquakes are not uncommon in NM, with some large shocks on the Rio Grande Rift, especially between Socorro and Albuquerque. 

Quakes almost always occur along fault lines.
