Fire Information
July 1, 2014—19:00
Several thunderstorms passed through southwest New Mexico during the afternoon of Tuesday July 1. Five new fire starts were detected on the eastern side of the forest. All fires are staffed and are being worked to fully suppress the fires.
Black Range District:
Alex Fire: 3 Acres Staffed with 10 smokejumpers-2 loads of fire retardant used on fire
Corduroy Fire: 0.1 Acres Burning in grass, staffed with Cobre Crew #5
Wilderness District:
Roberts Fire: 4 Acres Fire is smoldering and creeping, fire received some precipitation
Bailey Fire: 0.1 Acres Fire is in the Aldo Leopold Wilderness–3 firefighters are assigned
Silver City District:
Horse Fire: .25 Acres Staffed with wildland fire engine and crew has line around fire
