July 11, 2014, Glenwood, NM- Fire personnel from the Glenwood Ranger District will be burning the remaining flood debris at the Catwalk beginning Monday, July 14th. The wood debris is the result of clean-up efforts in the picnic area at the Catwalk Recreation Area. Whitewater Creek sustained high volume flows during last year's monsoon season, bringing down trees, stumps, and driftwood. Personal use wood permits were made available to the public allowing most of the debris to be used for fuelwood and other purposes.

Smoke will be visible from Glenwood and neighboring communities and may settle in low-lying areas during nighttime hours. The duration of the burn is expected to be short and smoke impacts are expected to be minimal, with light smoke lasting 3-4 days.
