La Esperanza Vineyard and Winery in Sherman (in the Mimbres River valley, off Royal John Mine Road) celebrated its fifth anniversary with a ribbon cutting at noon on Saturday, August 2. David and Esperanza Gurule own the only winery in Grant County. La Esperanza has 4,000 grape vines on 4 acres and processes over 20,000 pounds of grapes into around 650 cases of wine each year, many of which have won a number of awards.
