Author Jerry Lobdill, at a book signing in the Silver City Museum Annex on Saturday afternoon, talked about his book, "Last Train to El Paso."

He was intrigued by the story of the death of Thomas Lyons, owner of the LCs Ranch in Grant County, in El Paso, in 1917. Lobdill began digging and through his research busted a few myths and learned about the background of those responsible for the murder. The twists and turns of the tale brought the author to the conclusion that refuted rumors that purported to name the cattle rancher a "bad guy." I think Lyons "was a good guy," he told the audience.

He answered many questions about his process of three years of research and writing, as well as some of the quirks of the story. But you'll have to read it to learn what he discovered in his research.
