MainStreet wishes to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this year's parade exceptional, including the downtown merchants for making downtown look good. Thanks also go the Lions Club for their help with staging the parade, the Silver City Sun-News for hosting the parade judges, Q's Southern Bistro for hosting the awards ceremony, Syzygy Tile for the creation and donation of the lovely tiles we used as parade awards, the Gila Amateur Radio Society for directing communications, Kris' Unique Boutique for decoration creation, the Silver City Fire Department and Public Works Department for putting up decorations, and the Silver City Police Department for traffic control and enforcing the no-parking areas so curbs were safe for the children.

"I'd especially like to thank the individuals and organizations who took the time to enter their floats in the parade," said parade coordinator, Mike Madigan. "I'm grateful for the number of people who came together to make this event a success...it's been worth every minute." Special thanks also go out to Lucy Whitmarsh, Rudy Dominguez, and Richard Deaton whose work was especially instrumental in the success of this year's parade and awards presentation.

The judges this year were Diana Leyba-Ingalls, Victoria Chick, David Del Junco, and Joseph Biggs-Castello. "We thank everyone who joined the parade and made it so much fun. You're all winners in this great tradition of Silver City and Grant County," Madigan said.

Congratulations to all the winners. Awards can be picked up at the Silver City / Grant County Visitors Center at the corner of Broadway and Hudson beginning Tuesday, December 2. For more information contact the Silver City MainStreet Project at 534-1700.
