The Silver Consolidated school board met on January 20, with four members present; Chris Arvidson, Tony Egan, Arnold Torres and Trent Petty. The first session, the work period, began at 5:05. Superintendent Lon Streib introduced topics and people in the work session.

Razanna Robinson-Thomas reported on her town hall meeting of December 3 at WNMU's Global Resource Center, where a panel of three students spoke on student/school issues and took questions from the attending audience. Thomas commented on that meeting and told of plans for another meeting by April 27, when she hopes the area schools and students will have helped start a new council. This one should address the school policy focus that the Youth Substance Abuse Council will use to help reduce the use of substances that adversely affect students' health and study performances presently and in the future.
