In an update written at 11:08 a.m. Friday morning, January 30, 2015, school board president Trent Petty informed both Stewart McClintic, Silver City Daily Press reporter, and Margaret Hopper, Grant County Beat freelance reporter, that the voting irregularities, which the county clerk's office assured the school district would all be resolved over the weekend, were not.

In Petty's email, he outlined the map issue, comparing the 2013 board election with the 2015 election now in progress. In 2013 election, the clerk's office had the map, used it and there was no confusion reported, he said. This election cycle, the clerk didn't have the map, didn't know the boundaries, and suddenly the election is the responsibility of the school board.

Petty stated in this update: "As I told you Wednesday, I had 2 voters turned away from the clerk's office after the article (in the Press) came out, so it is still going on."
