The Bayard City Council, at its Monday, Feb. 23 meeting, approved a notice of intent to adopt a bond ordinance in reference to 2015 water improvements consisting of automation of water meters and water line replacement. The $109,000 bond issue, if approved, would repay a loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and will be part of the total project cost of $1.18 million, the remainder coming from a legislative grant of $234,000 and a USDA grant of $837,000.

A nine-item consent agenda was also approved, including attendance at:

1. The Law Enforcement Coordinators Training on March 3, in Albuquerque, for Chief Sam Charbagi and Judy Diaz,
2. The New Mexico Municipal League District 7 meeting on March 30, in Mesilla Valley, for available council and staff,
3. The Chief Finance Offices Association spring meeting on April 8-10, in Clovis, for Kristina Ortiz and Mary Binder, and
4. The Child Seat Certification to receive training regarding child seat installation in vehicles on March 10-11, in Albuquerque, for Det. Willy Kerin.
