Silver City, New Mexico- The Tour of the Gila announces it has gained the support needed to move forward with the 2015 edition of the race. In its 29th year, Gila faced cancellation last week but found a huge outpouring of support when the news was announced.

The news flowed like a tidal wave, with a huge presence on social media, along with traditional publications. "We are so moved by the support of the cycling and local community," stated Jack Brennan, race director. "I am pleased to let everyone know that we have a group of sponsors, local and nationwide, anchored by a key donor that are responsible for saving the Tour of the Gila, now dubbed the 'Gila Monsters."

The funding necessary for the race to proceed has been met by the "Gila Monsters'". However, there is still a huge outpouring of support coming in. "We are setting up an online crowd funding site that will enable us to bring back some enhancements that we had cut to trim the costs. Rallyme.com will be the source for this funding campaign and will be up and running by Thursday evening. This overwhelming support has been so amazing that the Tour of the Gila would also like to honor two charities that have touched our hearts. The Amy Dombroski Foundation and the WNMU Foundation Lanny Olson Scholarship Fund will each receive 10% of the proceeds from the campaign.

Announcing the new sponsorship arrangement, race director, Jack Brennan, said he was delighted with the idea of the Gila Monsters. It shows the importance of this race to many, many people.

The 2015 Tour of the Gila presented by the Gila Monsters will go into high gear to deliver the race that cyclists and fans love and support. Five days of racing begins April 29, ending with the Gila Monster Stage on May 3, leading into the Amgen Tour of California the following week. The UCI Women's race is new this year, offering an international platform for the professional women teams-a first in the US this year along with Joe Martin stage race and California. Fans can enjoy cheering on over 600 cyclists in eight categories during this epic New Mexico event.
