Senator Howie Morales presented a legislative update to the Bayard City Council at its April 13 meeting. Of major importance, Morales said, was that the capital outlay bill, which funds many infrastructure projects in the state, was not passed. "The Senate passed the spending bill 40-1 early this year," Morales said. "However, the House did not take action on the bill until 14 minutes were left in the legislative session, which was not enough time to discuss the $80 million the House cut out of the Senate's bill."

In other action, the council approved a nine-item consent agenda, including out-of-town Motor Vehicle Division training for Lucia Lucero and attendance at a wastewater and maintenance department workshop for certain city employees.
