If you are wondering what all the fuss is at the National Guard Armory on U.S. Highway 180 near Santa Clara on Thursday morning, April 30, it's a methamphetamine investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations, assisted by the New Mexico State Police.

According to the DEA Resident Agent in Charge, out of Las Cruces, who asked that his name not be used, they are acting on at least 12 arrest warrants, primarily for distributors and conspirators in Silver City and Santa Clara, to locate and apprehend those individuals.

The agent in charge said that meth in Grant County comes almost entirely from Mexico and Arizona, with little being manufactured here.

The federal agencies have been working on this project for several months with the support of local law enforcement, the agent in charge said. "We hope to get this wrapped up today."
