After running more than 200 miles and completing thousands of push-ups, sit-ups, flutter kicks, mountain climbs and other calisthenics two Silver City Police Department cadets, Jory Bascom and Javier Hernandez, will become commissioned police officers at a graduation ceremony Friday, June 12, 2015. They will join 37 other cadets from 20 more New Mexico law enforcement agencies, who also completed the course.

Class No. 190, according to a news release, completed 657 hours of standardized basic police officer course work. The curriculum included constitutional policing, de-escalation of force, crisis resolution, dealing with the mentally ill, conflict management, and identifying human trafficking. Also covered were ethics, cultural diversity, officer survival, bomb recognition, gangs and terrorism, and patrolling in the community.

The graduation ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in the Santa Fe Indian School Gymnasium, 1501 Cerillos Road, Santa Fe.
