Incident Name: Red Canyon Fire Update #3 of 6-19-2015 -- 10:30 AM

Start Date & Time: 6-15-2015 1300

Start Location: 2 Miles south of Grassy Lookout in the San Mateo Mountains

Cause of Fire: Lightning

Area Vegetation: Ponderosa Pine, mixed conifer, grass and pinyon / juniper

Acres Burned: 100 with growth potential

Ownership(s): USFS Cibola NF - Magdalena Ranger District

Structures Threatened: None

Evacuations (Y or N & #): None

Situation:

Situation: Strategy is to manage the fire for multiple objectives, initial planning area is 2,000 acres ( no private), fall back planning area is 22,000 with minimal private. The fire behavior is backing down ridge lines and creeping along the ground. As the Red Canyon Fire continues to burn, pre-determined management areas are mapped to keep the fire within those boundaries.
