"This pretty much will fund the rest of the construction," Lucy Whitmarsh, Silver City MainStreet Project executive director, told the Beat this morning, following the announcement from Gov. Susana Martinez and Secretary Jon Barela of the Economic Development Department of the funding of $100,000 for the Silco Theater.

"However, to qualify for this, we had to pull out the lighting package," Whitmarsh continued. "The lighting will be owner supplied."

As a result of the shortfall for lighting, which will be the responsibility of Silver City MainStreet, "We are trying to raise about $40,000," she said.

Whitmarsh said the construction contract with White Sands Construction indicates completion by mid-November this year. "So far, everything has been on time."
