TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, NM; July 2, 2015 - Fire managers report the Inman Fire has grown to approximately 20 acres, three miles northwest of Lookout Mountain on the Black Range Ranger District. Fire behavior is characterized as smoldering and creeping. The lightning-caused fire started June 25 and is being managed for multiple resource objectives.

Lightning has sparked another fire a mile away from the Inman Fire. The Draw Fire is about 30 acres in size and will be managed for resource objectives in the same management area that has been established for the Inman Fire.

The objectives managers have identified for these incidents include allowing natural fire to resume its role as a disturbance factor in the ecosystem and reducing the potential for high severity wildfires in future years. There are 30 personnel assigned to these fires. They will continue to prepare areas along the Continental Divide Trail and improve existing firelines within the pre-determined management area.

There are no closures associated with these fires. The forecast shows a chance of thunderstorms through the weekend. Remember there is the potential for flash flooding any time heavy rainfall occurs.
