Luna County- On Friday, July 3, 2015 at approximately 12:25 a.m., officers from the New Mexico State Police responded to the scene of a fatal vehicle crash. This crash occurred at mile marker 103 on Interstate 10 east of Deming, New Mexico.

The initial investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by Charles Preece (26) from Berwick, Louisiana, was eastbound on Interstate 10 when the vehicle he was driving struck a guardrail. The vehicle then flipped over, coming to rest on its top.

One of the passengers in the vehicle, identified as Chance Rebardi (23) from Berwick, Louisiana, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and another passenger, identified as Robert Toups (31) from Morgan City, Louisiana, sustained injuries and were transported from the scene to Mimbres Memorial Hospital.

None of the occupants in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.

The vehicle crash is still under investigation.
