On July 25, 2015, at about 7:01am, officers from the Silver City Police Department responded to the residence located at 413 35th Street in Silver City, in reference to a reported unattended death complaint.

Upon the officers’ arrival, they found an 87 year old male deceased in the garage area of the home and an 84 year old female deceased inside the residence.

The preliminary investigation revealed that it appeared the male subject shot the female subject while she was sitting on a couch in the residence and then went into the garage and shot himself. Both subjects had gunshot wounds to the head. A .38 cal. Revolver was found next to the deceased male and appears to be the weapon used in both shootings. It appears medical issues may have played a role in the shooting. The two victims were married.

The bodies were sent to the Office of Medical Examiners in Albuquerque for autopsy. According to the investigators, family members have been notified for the male subject however, they are having trouble locating the next of kin for the female victim.

The investigation is continuing into the incident.
