On July 28, 2015, at about 6:31 A.M., Grant County Sheriff €™s Deputies were called to the Golf Course (720 Fairway Dr. Silver City New Mexico) in reference to a Criminal Damage complaint. Golf Course Employees reported that the Western New Mexico University Golf Teams facility (Shed) had been broken into. The main Golf Course restrooms had toilet paper all over them and someone pulled the screen off of three water pumps. This screen cleans the water fed to the three water pumps.

These pumps supply water to the entire golf course. It is unknown at this time if the pumps are damaged or need to be replaced but if so, they would cost about $20,000 each to replace. There are three pumps located on that property. Entry was gained by breaking the skylight to the WNMU Golf Team Facility. A glass block window was shattered on the restrooms. Both of these rooms were in disarray. Items taken from the WNMU Facility were a wall mounted computer, desktop monitor, Dell laptop computer, Acer laptop, Flight scope XI+ , iPad, iPad Mini, Wireless router, Vizio flat screen TV and 7 Taylor made Jr Putters.. Estimated total value of items stolen is $8,000. Estimated cost to repair damage is around $3,500.

Deputies also responded to the Scott Park Baseball Fields. Signs were scattered on the property that were originally hanging on the fences. Portable restrooms were turned over on their sides along with a dumpster.

The concession stand was broken into and was in complete disarray. All four windows were broken. Also damaged were light fixtures, door knobs and shelves that were in the concession stand. Cost to repair damages is estimated at $6000. Nothing was taken from the concession stand.

Anyone that has information on these cases can call Central Dispatch at (575-388-8840) and or the Grant County Sheriff’s Department (575-574-0100).
