Silver City police department officers were dispatched to 3613 Los Encinos on Friday, Jan. 1, at about midnight, in relation to a reported fight. While en route to the address, officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was running stop signs and was reported as leaving the scene of the fight. According to a police report, the vehicle turned into the GRMC ER parking lot in front of the ambulance bay and a male exited the vehicle and ran toward the ER waiting room. Officers observed an apparent shooting victim inside the vehicle.

As officers tended to the victim inside the vehicle, ER staff came outside with a wheelchair and the victim was taken inside for treatment, the report said.

The victim was flown out, the report stated, and when the hospital lifted the lockdown, officers returned to the residence to assist with scene security as two subjects had barricaded themselves inside the Los Encinos residence. Once inside the home, officers escorted the two into waiting patrol cars outside.

No more information was available at press time.
