Ryker Grijalva, 23, of Mimbres, was taken into custody by Silver City police officers on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at about 5 p.m., at the New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole Office in Silver City. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing great bodily harm, a 4th degree felony; great bodily injury by vehicle, a 3rd degree felony; and not wearing seatbelt.

Grijalva was the driver of a red Ford flatbed pickup that T-boned another pickup driven by 17-year-old Douglas Rydeski at the intersection of Ranch Club Road and E. Highway 180 on Dec. 23. After the crash, which sent Rydeski to the Gila Regional Medical Center and then to an El Paso hospital with serious internal injuries, Grijalva exited his vehicle and ran south toward the bowling alley.

Grijalva was booked into the Grant County Detention Center under a bond set at $10,000 and was additionally charged with a probation violation by the NMAPPO.
